Feb 06, 2019 (Seems to me that only 2 of the 50 comments are for S2 and the other 48 were for S1 that was set in New Zealand.) No Holly Hunter from S1 but we get Nicole Kidman this time. Both directed by Campion and starred Moss as…

If watching a bunch of lowlifes makes you feel better about your own situation you will enjoy this movie. The real world has enough sadness and morons in it, not sure why we need more in the form of "entertainment".

Season 2 was much better. China girl.

This is a well crafted story with no spoilers.

I saw this recommendation after I watched "The Mare of Easttown." It is a woman detective genre series full of the who-dun-it plot twist. I don't know why so many comments say this is depressing and slow. There's a lot of nitty-gritty…

Story line moved somewhat slow but we did manage to watch the entire series. Agree with some of the other comments that none of the characters in the series were likeable and the women at the camp did not add value or purpose to the story…

Such a disturbing storyline. Only watched 15 minutes and turned it off. Very depressing.

Tedious and disappointing. I had high hopes but the characters behave nonsensically. There was some potential but wasted. If you want shows of this type I recommend “The Bridge” or “The Killing”. The originals.

Just couldn't get into this similar to the series 'Justified' with a female main actress. The women camped at the lake seem dorky.

I borrowed the 2nd season not realizing there was a season 1, but finished in any case - I love the actors. Especially Jane's daughter who was nothing like her character in Rachet. Now I'm set to watch season 1 which apparently is…

The world of this show is bleak, so I can't say I particularly "enjoyed" watching it. However, some of the acting was fantastic (though Elizabeth Moss's Australian accent left something to be desired), the writing was decent, and the…

I watched the first show in this TV series and then gave up! It was way too negative - there were far too many sad/disturbing/violent scenes. There were no redeeming features in this show so I am returning it to the OPL. There were way too…

Sad to see this show only lasted one season when it held such great potential.

Enjoyed the first series, this was just icky. Watched maybe 15 minutes of it just because I am a fan of Campion and Moss, but it was a painful 15 minutes. Oh well.

An incredible performance of Elizabeth Moss who had to embody a complex and extremely sensitive protagonist. This thriller is taking place in Sydney, Australia, however it possesses all the features of a Scandinavian Nordic Noir crime…

A TV series created by the Cannes Palme d'Or award winning New Zealand feminist film director Jane Campion starring Holly Hunter, Peter Mullan, and Elizabeth Moss. A few nice people and some innocent teens have to put up with a lot of…

Watch the original series of this. Give this a pass. Over dramatic. EVERY characters has flaws. I felt overwhelmed by this. At the end I was not satisfied with how I was left as the audience. The original series was an experiment by the…

Ridiculously stupid, and filled with brain-dead characters it is impossible to care about.

Slow and full of unlikeable characters. Watched only the first and last episodes and still could follow the story, which means there was a lot of padding. Liked Holly Hunter, but she was only an accent character. This is a review for…

I have admired Jane Campion as a director for 25 years ( The Piano with Holly Hunter ), but this series is a mess. First of all we are beaten over the head with misogyny - men only see women as sex objects - man on woman violence - women…

Jane Campion is one of the best director / writers. She delivers a story that skillfully showcases our male centered culture especially the police. Strong depictions of the sex slave trade, middle class fussiness, charismatic villain,…

A waste of time. Very predictable. No character development. Its only saving grace is the beautiful scenery.

Actually thought this was just a movie, not a 6 part mini series. Thought after part 2 I would quit, but something kept me going. Even though the script could be slow it never totally left me feeling like I was wasting my time. In the end…

Brooding slow start . . . done for character development and to turn the plot twist to the not quite expected. All actors play their parts very well . . . the characters turn the plot. Well worth the watch all the way through . . . watch…
