Urg! was really disappointing! The book is SO SLOW! The entire time I was waiting for something to happen! Found it really sappy
and boring.

Amazing book. The flashbacks are sometimes confusing. The next book is a good sequel, in my opinion.

This was a good read.
Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of reading ahead when the plot gets boring or confusing, so I was jumping all over the place for this one because of all the flashbacks.
I felt the book ended abruptly, but I suppose that is so I run out and get the sequel to read.

I really liked most of this book, but at the end, I kind of felt like, what was the point of this book. There's a second book but I don't think I'll be reading it.

Really engaging.

'If I stay' is Gayle Forman's top seller. She has also written a squeal to this novel called 'Where She Went'. This book is told from Mia Hall's point of view. Mia is a teenage cellist, in the last year of high school. She waiting to hear back from Julliard (a university that has an amazing music program.) She is the only one in her family that likes classical music, the rest of her family is into rock. Her parents still except Mia for who she is. Mia has a boyfriend that is in a rock band called 'Counting Stars.'

But one day in the winter, school was cancelled due to the weather. Mia and her family; mom, dad and brother Teddy, go on a road trip to visit family and friends. While they are driving, a truck slams into their car, which kills her mom, dad and brother.

While Mia cruises the hospital, and watches her loved ones. Her whole body is unconscious, Mia choses whether she stays or goes with her parents and brother.

This novel got me from start to end, and never got boring. Even though this book is really short, that does not mean it is not good. I recommend this novel for people that into teen fiction/romance. If you enjoyed 'The Fault In Our Stars' and books John Green has written, then this is the novel for you. The movie for 'If I Stay' has recently come out, and still is playing in the theatres.

I found this book really hard to get into. It was too slow-paced for me and I didn't like the constant flashbacks. Someone else might like it though.

Good book, I like that it had a sequel so you could catch up on what happened to everyone.

Mia Hall, a teen aged cellist waiting to hear from Julliard, is involved in a car accident which kills her entire family. The book follows Mia, as she wanders the hospital and watches her loved ones and her comatose body. The next step, to stay or go, is all up to her.

There is a nice helping of melodrama here but it's broken up with Mia's looking back on her life. At her rocker mother, ex-punk-new teacher father, adorable younger brother, and her friends - especially her emo-core band member boyfriend Adam.

What got me the most about this tale was more about the role of music in everyone's life and how even people who don't like each other's music - Mia's mother gave birth to Mia's brother blasting loud punk music while Mia much prefers classical fare, even the doctor's doing surgery on Mia rotate between everyone's musical taste - still connect with each other and work with each other despite their difference in that regard. Music is as much a part of this story as love (familiar and romantic both) is.

There is also a really nice breakdown of all the band and song references in the book at the end of the book for anyone curious to hear for themselves or learn more. I really enjoyed that.

“If you stay, I'll do whatever you want. I'll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I'll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it'd be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I'd do it. I can lose you like that if I don't lose you today. I'll let you go. If you stay.”

I read this book because its going to be a movie. To my surprise it was a drag out process for me. I'm not sure if its because I'm an adult reading a teen book but she just took way.... To long to figure out her outcome. Sometimes I just wanted to scream at the book lol.

In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...

A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

What if you had everything?
A gorgeous boyfriend who was madly in love with you?
Quirky hip parents who got you?
A musical talent that could take you anywhere?
What if your biggest problem in life was choosing which paths to take ?
Follow your first love-music- to New York City?
Or stay with your boyfriend , friends , and family?
What if one day you went for a drive . . .
And in an instant everything changed?
What if suddenly all the other choices were gone?
Except for one - the one that truly ever mattered ?
What would you do?
Stay . . .
If I Stay . . . .
If Mia Stays . . .
