Ms. Moyes weaves an epic tale....with characters that take on life. A powerful story , rife with compelling scenes. This is a must read for all historical / contemporary fans. OUTSTANDING. All in all, this is reading at it's finest.

Loved it! Romance and suspense at the deepest level - you didn't know where you would be taken or where you would end up. The read was beyond my expectations.

I'm generally not an historical fiction fan, but I found the parallel between Sophia and Liv's lives compelling. The writing is vivid and at time poetic. Great read!

Outstanding novel. Captivating writing, and characters to care about. Jo Jo Moyes is now a favorite of mine.

I really enjoyed the way the author combined the past and the present in this book, one minute you are reading about WWI and just as you are getting into it, the author switches to the present, at first I was ticked off, because I was so caught up in the past, but it all fit in nicely at the end.

This is an excellent historical fiction account of struggles and hardship in WWI in France (Part 1) interwoven with the struggles of a contemporary woman who has experienced a great loss (Part 2). The common thread is a painting from WWI that is very special to both women. I liked the author's book "Me Before You", but I enjoyed this book much more.
