This is a 2013 American political action-thriller directed by Roland Emmerich about an assault on the White House by a paramilitary group and the Capitol Police Officer who tries to stop them.
The story is pretty silly---too contrived.
When the president rose again after being shot, I almost laughed my head off.
Even when he showed a pocket watch given to him by his wife and explained that the bullet that hit him had been stopped by this convenient watch, nobody would be able to be convinced.
It is one of the cheapest tricks.
Maybe, you might believe it.
Anyway, except for the silly storyline and cheapest trick, you could enjoy this awe-inspiring, breath-taking and highly entertaining action movie with sophisticated computer graphics.

Now this was fun. Blow it up, shot em up romp. Holes in 200 year old walls, broken Ming Dynasty vases, holes in hand woven silk carpets--total destruction of a world famous structure or two--and an inside look at some of the secrets of the US palace we call the White House. FUN.

I really don't like how soft the gunshots sounded throughout this explosions festival.Good sound design is extremely important for such a violent action/adventure film from Hollywood period. The director of this film knows this but he clearly dropped the ball on this issue and that's totally inexcusable coming from him considering his directorial resume,BUT I DIGRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this film. It is a great combination of action, comedy and an interesting story. It is fair to say that this will not win any Academy awards for dramatics but if you are looking for to relax and watch a fun movie this is for you. In classic Roland Emmerich style there are some magnificent explosions. Director Emmerich took the chance to shoot up, blow up and burn down as much of the majestic White House as possible. There were times that I cringed as I watched bullet holes tear through priceless art and fire burn through heirloom tapestries. It even hurt to see the wallpaper get destroyed. My favourite sequence was when a helicopter tail rotor blade tears through the ceiling and comes within inches of a characters face. The chemistry between Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum was wonderful; it feels as though they have been friends for many years. If you are looking for an action packed, funny movie with endearing characters; I recommend White House Down.

F – terrible. This is a movie geared for 15 year olds, which begs the question, why isn’t it a movie about killing the president of Nintendo, Xbox or Playstation!!!! At least make it relevant for them, oh no!! No more video games!!!!.......Everything is lousy in this movie, the story, the chemistry, the action, the characters, etc…Don’t waste your time with this one.

A silly but fun popcorn movie!

Watch for the funny maneuver the President has the Marine One pilots execute at the beginning!

Really entertaining!

Excellent pop corn movie. Suspend believability. The action is another character in the movie. Jamie Fox as President might be more popular than Obama at this time.

Lot's of shoot 'em up and one liners! Worth taking the 132 minutes to watch it.
