Why would I give this whiny predictable book an 'ok' rating? Because it could have been worse (as apparent in the 2nd book of the trilogy, which was awful). America Singer's annoyingness knows no bounds. In this last book she has the same fight with herself over and over and over and over...you get the picture. This conflict takes up the whole book! It's not even important! It's a matter of saying a few little words. And so many of the trilogy's character's do an about-face and became completely different people for the sake of tidying up the ending. Not cool. But..it was an easy read. Any twilight fan would rip through this in less than a week. For that I cannot hate the series, or this book. If teens (and lovesick adults) are reading, I am happy.

LOL i thought this book was hilarious. even though it's not suppose to be (or at least i think), the parts where America can't make a decision or when she does make a decision, she changes her mind the first chance she gets. and the parts where she acted so whiny and bossy like everything just has to go her way. it was so good.
i actually placed a hold behind like a 130 ppl but i guess there are acceptances to boomerang books (just a heads a to whoever wants to read it).

I though this book was great, even though I thought it was too predictable who Maxon was going to choose, but overall it was a pretty good book.

I do wish that it explained more about Kriss, she doesn't seem like that kind of materiel. And also, it never explained what happened to the southern rebels, did the organisation end, or they still attacking. By ending, it seems like they're not, but still!

I like how the Maxon/Aspen thing smothed out in end and it was a great finish to the trilogy!

As an E.S. Librarian, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as it's two previous volumes. I would highly recommend this to all young readers, Grade 6+, especially the girls. The level of suspense and conflict may even appeal to young males.

Honestly pretty predicatable. An over all average book. I found that america was being too whiny through out the book. If your into love triangle type stories then you might like it but it in my mind was an average read.

This was an amazing end to the Selection trilogy! I couldn't stop reading, and when it ended, I wanted more. There were no disappointments, although I do wish some things had ended differently. There are a few plot twists which made The One so much more amazing! This really was a great series!

I absolutley loved the first two books but honestly I think that America became too whiny and selfcentered in this book. All in all I was happy with the ending and it was very well written.

I pointed towards the thrones.
America: "Go faithful subject, and pay your dept to the king."

Immediately, he stopped kissing me, pulling back to look at me.
America: "What?" I whispered, terrified to break this moment.
Maxon: " Does it . . . does it repulse you?"
America: "What do you mean?"
Maxon: "My back?"
I ran a hand down his cheek, staring directly into his eyes, wanting to leave him with no doubt about how I felt.
America: "Maxon, Some of those marks are on your back so they wouldn't be on mine, and I love you for them."
He stopped breathing for a second.
Maxon: "What did you say?"
I smiled.
America: "I love you."
Maxon: "One more time please? I just-"
I took his face in both of my hands.
America: "Maxon Schreave, I love you. I love you."
Maxon: "And I love you, America Singer. With all that I am, I love you."

Maxon: He sighed contentedly."How are you feeling, my dear?"
America: "I feel like punching you for calling me 'my dear' mostly." I poked his stomach.
Maxon: "Smiling, he crawled to sit over me. "Fine then. My darling? My Pet? My Love?"
America: "Any of those would work, so long as you've reserved it solely for me," I said, my hands mindlessly wandering his chest, his arms. "What am I supposed to call you?"
Maxon: Your Royal Husbandess. It's required by law, I'm afraid."

Maxon: " Look at Me, America."
I blinked a few times and pulled my gaze up to his eyes. Through the pain, he smiled at me.
Maxon: "Break my Heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway."
America: "Shhh," I urged.
Maxon: "I'll love you until my very last breath. Every beat of my heart is yours. I don't want to die without you knowing that."

I curled my legs to my chest and rested my head against the door.
"If you live, " I whispered, "I'll let you call me your dear. I won't complain I promise."
And then I was left to wait.

“And why would I when, for as far as we’ve come, he could still push me out? While I’m humiliated over and over again, and you stand by? That’s not love, Maxon. You don’t even know what love is.”

“The hell I don’t! Do you have any idea what I’ve been through—”

“Maxon, you were the one who said you wanted to stop arguing. So stop giving me reasons to argue with you!”
