Just another DEEPLY RACIST HOLLYWOOD MOVIE THAT EXPLICITLY SAYS THAT WHITES ARE GOOD AND BLACKS ARE BAD IN REAL LIFE PERIOD.House Negroes,Political ZOMBIES of all races,as well as the average and ELITE RACISTS LOVE this movie period. This movie will never tell you that those that look like Tom Hanks ARE THE ONES THAT INVADED SOMALIA AND MADE IT AN ETERNAL POVERTY TRAP FOR BLACK PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE ONLY.This is one of the reasons why WHITE PRIVILEGE IS TAKING CARE OF THE MAJORITY OF CAUCASIAN PEOPLE IN THE USA RIGHT NOW AS I SPEAK,BUT YOU DON'T HEAR ME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Much better than I expected. Already being familiar with the much-publicized real-life story, I wasn't sure I would enjoy this film, but I did. Tom Hanks does a great job as the title character and the film manages to create a lot of suspenseful moments, even if you already know the story.

Overall, I found this story to be good, but not great. I'm not convinced that the Tom Hanks character was properly casted in the role. The plot appeared quite plausible. It's amazing though that the ship only had fire hoses to defend themselves. Hopefully, that has changed now.

This amazing film brought to life the complexity of the various governmental agencies involved in rescuing Captain Phillips, who had been kidnapped by Somali pirates for the purpose of a multi-million dollar ransom. While the film was over 2 hours long, that amount of time was needed to set up the recruitment of the kidnappers, the kidnapping, the chase and the rescue, etc. Prior to seeing the film, I had only a vague sense of the story. I had had no idea of the complexity of the operation and that the perfect point of execution lasted for a mere second. The film received numerous well-deserved Oscar nominations.

Good acting and tension, but we know there was more to the story than this.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It was so well-done and I was sitting on the edge of my seat until the very end. The suspense was great and Tom Hanks did a superb job as Phillips. I would highly recommend this movie.

Worst movie I've seen in a long time (I saw it in a movie theatre). The director could be an aspiring high school film student; he'd never graduate from a college film dept. Hopefully he will never direct a feature movie again. The cinematography is beyond awful, an endless retinue of in-your-face TV style shots. Even the outdoor shots are awful; hazy, non-focused. The director was probably asleep. The producers could've done better by hiring the directors and cinematographer of the Vancouver, B.C. based tv series called Flashpoint.
The acting is tepid; the script poor; try following the characters and who's who, hah hah. Since it's free at the library one can use it to abet a good nap or better yet ~ a good night's sleep.

Tom Hanks had nerves of steel during his ordeal with the hijackers. It's unfortunate that people around the world enjoy hurting others and covet what isn't theirs. At the end he broke down which was expected after what he went through. He did an excellent job and though I knew what the story was about, I always enjoy his acting.
Did the hijackers actually eat? I know one was called "Skinny" and that he was, but they did a good job casting people who looked like they were emaciated.
