Virtual Poetry Night Featuring Caroline Goodwin

7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Description

‘Ecopoetry: Taking a Leap’

This month, Belmont Poet Laureate curates an evening of poetry encouraging you to explore the interrelationship of nature and humanity. Through poetry, let us be more conscious of the ways we think, feel about, live and act in the world. Belmont Poetry Night invites you to the theme of ‘Ecopoetry: Taking the Leap’ celebrating the environment, the vernal equinox and World Poetry Day.

Featuring poet & collagist Caroline Goodwin. Hosted by Belmont Poet Laureate, Monica Korde.

Caroline Goodwin
moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from Sitka, Alaska in 1999 to attend Stanford as a Wallace Stegner Fellow in poetry. Her recent books are Old Snow, White Sun (JackLeg Press, Washington, DC), Madrigals (Big Yes Press, Arroyo Grande, CA), and Matanuska (Aquifer Press, Wales, UK). She teaches at California College of the Arts, Stanford Continuing Studies, and UC Berkeley Extension; from 2014-16 she served as the first Poet Laureate of San Mateo County. She lives on the coast with Jimi Hendrix the Pug.

This is a virtual event on Zoom. Open Mic will follow the reading. Share a poem of your own or by a favorite poet. Or just pour a cup of tea and listen in. We welcome friends in poetry from around the world, so please share!
