Hear from Master Gardener Melissa Mason about Unlocking the Magic of Native Plants in Your Garden. Afterward, let's grow together with a Seed Swap at the library! Bring your seeds and cuttings and swap, share or take new seedlings to start growing your garden.
This workshop, designed with the home gardener in mind, will explore the magic and beauty of California native plants, discuss how vital they are for our pollinators and wildlife, and discover how to add California native plants to existing home gardens. We hope attendees will be inspired by this informational session and begin to appreciate and add native plants to their gardens.
Melissa Mason (Biology UC Davis) has been a Master Gardener since 2015 specializing in California Native Plants. In 2019 she initiated and led the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden Project where Master Gardeners planted more than 80 species of native plants in an 8000 sq ft park area in San Carlos. Currently, Melissa and her team are researching and developing “Plant Notes” which are individual educational materials or “notes” that feature information on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family. Each Plant Note is tailored to our region, in a thorough and concise format and available to the public online.
