Conversations in Haiku

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Millbrae

Description

Haiku poems are short, “little” poems, first written in Japan, now enjoyed all over the world. In this writing workshop, we will talk about the history and characteristics of haiku, learn how to write our own haiku and how to write them with others.

The workshop is an introduction, a group learning project, where everyone can find their place and a way to participate comfortably. No prior experience in writing or poetry is necessary to enjoy this workshop.

Facilitator Jerry Bolick resides in Brisbane, San Mateo County. He is a poet and has taught poetry, basic writing and literacy skills to both children and adults. He believes haiku is a natural gateway to writing poetry of all kinds.
