The short-lived but well-loved Ocean Shore Railroad was originally planned to connect San Francisco and Santa Cruz. During its heyday, the railroad transported products from the Coastside to San Francisco markets and promoted real estate to San Franciscans looking south.

Although an earthquake and the automobile combined forces to prevent the Ocean Shore from achieving its long-term goal, the little railroad enterprise had a lasting effect on the Coastside we know today.

Speaker Chris Hunter lives in Pacifica and is a former Editor and Publisher of the Pacifica Tribune. He has always been an amateur history buff, and has written three history books about Pacifica, including his book about the Ocean Shore Railroad.
