This is a very good movie, not great, but pretty good. People who say Mrs. Travers was not a good or nice person were not paying much attention. The flashbacks to her childhood do a good job of developing and explaining her character. The…

I had no idea what was going on. Mrs. Traverse was replay not a nice person. Going back and forth was annoying. I didn’t finish it. Hanks didn’t play Disney well at all.

I guess it was ok. It was interesting more than good I think. I don't know Mary Poppins enough to know who Mr. Banks is so it did not mean a lot to me but my wife understood it better. I do know that Mrs. Travers was not a very nice person…

Half the movie was Little House on the Prairie and the other half was of Emma Thompson making Prunella Pruneface grimaces. It would take more than a 5-lb bag of sugar for this medicine to go down.

Saving Mr Banks is a marvelous story about loving the people who are in your life, no matter what. Sometimes the most talented people aren't the easiest to live with. You have to offer love to receive love. And, what an amazing journey to…

"Saving Mr. Banks" is a very moving, yet entertaining and enthralling film. The plot is fantastic and the acting is excellent. It was quite interesting to learn how "Mary Poppins" became a movie. I did not expect such extremes of…

I just recently watched this movie with the family and I liked it. At the beginning of the movie, I just couldn't stand PL Travers. there were many unlikeable qualities about her such as being super picky and bossy and demanding. But later…

Can't stand to be around anyone who acts like this, not even in a movie. Five min. of listening and watching this woman is self punishing the mind, feelings and senses by allowing infectious, low-chemistry, thoughts, words and actions of…

I was pleasantly surprised to see just how honest the Mouse Machine could be when it came to the flaws of their founder. This may not tell everything completely true, but it nails theme- which is, oddly enough, possibly even a nod to the…

This may be Tom Hanks' best film. What a marvelous performance in his dialog with the author Mrs. Travers back in London! Walt Disney cracks the mystery of what was the real issue.
Emma Thompson does a lovely job showing the prickly…

If I could give this movie ten stars, I would. It was a long wait for me to finally be able to see this masterpiece, as I was never able to see it in the theatre, but watching it alone in the comfort of my home was mesmerizing. I…

I went into this movie cautious, because I didn't know how I felt about a movie that painted an unrealistic picture of a real life author's experience. Reportedly P.L. Travers severely disliked the movie adaptation of "Mary Poppins" and…
Saving mr Banks is on Today on T.v so i ddin't get a chance to watch it before its on t.v so i have to watch it later i barrowed this movie there was a lot of holds on this movie before not anymore i placed a hold on it
P.L. Travers's father, Travers Robert Goff (portrayed by Colin Farrell in the movie), was a heavy drinker. As noted by biographer Valerie Lawson in her book Mary Poppins, She Wrote (available in the right column), Travers Goff was a bank…

I read the first four Mary Poppins books recently and am not really tempted to read the rest, but the 1964 Disney film is reasonably faithful to the first (and best) book. The aptly-named Saving Mr Banks provides some biographical …

I did not know what this film was about, only that it had something to do with Mary Poppins. The story is about the author P.L. Travers and Walt Disney’s 20 year effort to get the story made into a film. Mrs. Travers (played by Emma…

Disney does a psychodrama, and it works. Emma Thompson plays P.L. Travers, author of the Mary Poppins books, and she has daddy issues, which Walt Disney, in producing the 1964 blockbuster film, helps her sort out. Usually I don't like a…
