The book starts off interesting and with an interesting premise but feels flat.

Gwendy's Button Box is a story about responsibility, self-control, and coming-of-age. One of the things I love about King's work is how real he makes his characters- they aren't all altruistic, self-righteous, and constantly making the…

Already on the list for the next book in the series...

I found my new favorite series in this novel, and I couldn't be happier!  In this book we follow a young girl named Gwendy Peterson. As she rests at the top of some outdoor stairs in her neighborhood, she meets a mysterious man who offers…

Richard Matheson first published his short story “Button, Button” in 1970. It’s tight, chilling, and has a great ending – a classic in every sense of the word. I’d recommend that tale to anyone. This pale offshoot is slapdash, sloppy, and…

Oh, the Dark Man. How interesting to see you here. This time around he’s got his eye on 12-year-old Gwendy, whom he gifts with a box that tends to make her every wish come true, but who’s dark purpose may just overshadow whatever good…

I expected more after reading the 1st chapter. Most of the next chapters are about Gwendy's life, and it's not exciting. I expected more "action" with the box. Pretty disappointing book.

While the implications of the box are unsettling, this short novella did very little to establish a sense of dread. Only one brutal moment in the book, and it felt a little tame given how catastrophic the box could be. I know this is…

Not the most mind-blowing book but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Title is strange and the actual story line is even more bizarre, but I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was interesting and well written and it was a nice quick read for me that I surprisingly liked more than I thought I would.

I read this in one evening. Fun and captivating. There's a lot left unexplained, but maybe that's the purpose. Regardless, it was an enjoyable read!

Read this in one sitting, while doing laundry. An intriguing page-turner... I'm not sure how much Stephen King wrote, and how much the other guy wrote, but it was really Kingsian to me.

*** Mild Spoiler Alert*** Not bad at all, but as with other reviewers I did feel that the climax with Gwendy and her shirt was a little of a let-down for me. Whilst I'm fairly neutral to this simply being a contentious subject, I felt that…

Stephen King's name caught my eye, so I threw "Gwendy's Button Box" into our bag of books to be borrow. It's a quick read though it touches on issues like coming-of-age, growing pains, secrets, friends, enemies, & family. Now that we've…

I guess I could say I enjoyed the journey more than the destination. This was an exciting read, and I couldn't put it down. It had a strong, conceptually-intriguing beginning, which set up some pretty high expectations for the rest of the…

Read the comments....really, I thought this book was horrible. If I had paid money for it - I would want my money back. Thank goodness for the library. Just because it has Stephen King on it doesn't make it special.

This was a one sit read and I really enjoyed it. It's the sort of thing that only Stephen King could come up with but it was just a little bit more like a pulpy mystery than usual - I assume that's his cowriter's influence. I liked it…

"Gwendy's Button Box" is basically an update to Richard Matheson's short story "Button, Button", which is itself an update of the classic "The Monkey's Paw". While Kings' fan will enjoy his trademark writing style, there's no dramatic…

Excellent read from one of America's National Treasures. I wasn't feeling well so cozied up with this on a Sunday afternoon and it took me away. Great "quickie" read.

I truly enjoyed this great book by Stephen King, including a lead character with her own sense of morals and the price one pays for the rewards that follow throughout her life. Suspenseful and sinister-a fantastic modern fable.

One of the best parts of a Stephen King title is the "Dear Constant Reader" message he writes just to ME, a friendly bonus of information on what he was thinking as he wrote that particular book. Alas, there was NO Dear Constant Reader…
