It was interesting to have the Supreme Court featured in this novel and to get a glimpse into the day-to-day. The plight of Rufus Harms was indeed deplorable and I am sure I was not alone in rooting for justice and truth to win for his sake.

I found that many of the plot points were believable with some glaring exceptions. What the characters in this novel are able to accomplish in one 24-hour period is simply not feasible. Then add to this the distribution of villains and how many were in high places and I lose more respect for the book. I also found both Sarah and John to be unappealing as main characters. Never really warmed up to either one. Sarah especially was down right ridiculous at points and did not behave like the smart lawyer she was supposed to be.

Finally, I would like to commend Baldacci on the way he presented Rufus's faith. He shared his love of God and scripture with many and they were blessed by it.

If seems to have forgotten that under U.S. criminal law (probably military criminal law) that if you are tried and convicted for a crime and sentenced to life witout parole and it is later discovered that you are innocent because another person is convicted and sentenced for that crime and (thoug officially) innocent that you stll have to serve the minimal sentence (here life withour parole). Innocence does not reverse a court ruling , a misplaced comma or other JUDICIAL mistake does. Seen on court TV several years ago.

An interesting look into the US Supreme Court, and the adventure for key characters that work in the court follows. Some clever twists and turns that Baldacci does so well, overall a fun read.
