While I typically find any movie concerning the holocaust/Nazis/WW11 fascinating, "Judgement at Nurenburg went above and beyond but Schell's performance possibly exceeded anything I've seen in my 76 years. Stunning! Following the movie, I resorted to IMDB to see if Schell had received a reword for his part. Yes he did, a very appropriate Best Actor Oscar.

....one of my favorite films, the whole cast is excellent...MARLENE DIETREICH appears as someone who actually knew HITLER, and MONTY CLIFF and JUDY GARLAND are particulary poignant as victims of the NAZIs...

The ORIGINAL and a MUST SEE for students of history.. EXCELENT & outstanding performances by Spencer Tracy and Burt Lancaster. Wm. Shatner as supporting in pre-Capt'n Kirk days.

I was told by the library personnel at my local library, when she looked it up, that the old version of Judgment at Nuremberg with Tracy Spencer, 1961 film, was no longer available , and only the 2004 newer copy was available. Since I knew at one time there was the original, old, copy, and an updated modern, newer, version of the film with different characters, was available, I asked why the old version was not available. She slightly commented it's not. Now in looking it up today to place a comment about the old version not being available, I noticed I could click on the dvd's name to view details, the system as you now is new; and the copy is the original old version just re-copy written in 2004. Evidently she must be still learning the system because I commented about not able to pull up details in the new system when searching another dvd prior to asking her assistance about another item. Maybe she needs more training to assist the patrons with the new system because I used trial and error to locate the details today only to make comments; and, amazingly I found out in my reading, I did not have to request you all consider replacing it in the system. I am so happy! I wish I could purchase a copy; for, now I fear one day because it is from the 1960's it will eventually be taken out of circulation.

For me the greatest movie ever made.

A well made movie about a very dark subject. Spencer Tracy & Burt Lancaster are stellar but the rest seem a little hesitant, hence the rating. The trials were deemed necessary but they went so long that people were tired of them. Unfortunately, this wasn't shown very well in the movie. Those being tried were secondary level criminals so none of the horrific photos were shown.

I missed their context and there is no subtitles or close caption. Spencer Tracy and Burt Lanaster is only one that I can read their lips. I hoped in the future or make new movie be sure it has subtitles.

I come from a small white German sundown town in the mid-west and only upon moving out to go college did I first saw this film and its lessons. These white sundown towns didn’t talk about this stuff, the high schools taught their students that slavery was not a cause of the Civil War and that segregation was none of anyone’s business in the North. Yeah towns like my hometown spawned anti-Semitism and indifference to racial discrimination. Spend three hours with this film. Some of you may come to realize that the plight of your fellow human beings is your responsibility.

A magnificent movie, entertaining and extremely thought-provoking. The screenplay and cast are brilliant. The film raises so many moral questions, as relevant today as ever. Who bears guilt for a crime against humanity, and who is responsible for preventing the crime? When do we forgive our enemies and make them our allies? How much of the past are we willing to learn, how much truth can we bear? Must we forget the past, or at least some of it, to carry on? This film is timeless.
