This movie should be considered a classic for just having the line "You know, I don't really like people!". That is pretty, pretty funny. And so true isn't it? It's the screenplay that elevates this movie to a classic of its genre. Those were fun days being a teen in the 70's. They're long gone now. The arrow of time keeps flying forward. And before you know it you're old.

This film is still as much a classic to me now as it was years before when I was a teenager. It has some humor that some will not care for and in retrospect there is some unnecessary sexism and acceptance of certain abusive acts. Paddling kids for the hell of it isn't easy to watch even if you lace it with an Alice Cooper song in the background. Boring to some, but interesting enough for those that like different methods of film making. Note: if you get this CC version, the disc is wonky in some places and you might have to skip ahead. Commentary by Linklater was fun to listen to as well as the included documentary.

I liked this better the first time I saw it. Too bad, because I really loved Richard Linklater's sequel that was recently in theaters, "Everyone Wants Some!!" Now that was a FUN movie!!

Dazed and Confused and Boring and Pointless. It was just a good soundtrack in search of a plot. The whole movie appeared to be a desperate attempt to re-create American Graffiti for the mid-70s.

Great movie, great soundtrack! It's worth watching just for Matthew McConaughey's performance! Alright alright alright.

If you rated this below 3 stars you just missed the point. The movie has no plot and doesn't need one. It's about experiences, coming of age and nostalgia. Set that to a killer soundtrack (unfortunately sans the song from the eponymous title), and you've got a golden period piece that takes you back to the days when your biggest worries were what you were going to do with your summer night and whether the girl next door thought you were cool.

American Graffiti for the 70s. Incredibly funny and poignant at the same time. And of course, an amazing soundtrack.

a very fun movie! and they kept it real.
Hardly any movies about this time period get it as accurately as this movie did which was alot of fun for me because I'm from that time period (I was eight in 1976).
but I also understand how some people would not be able to relate to it -because every aspect of teenage social life now must be so much different than it was in the 1970's.

It was alright....I was expecting more from this film because of the cast. Didn't make me laugh. I may have giggled once or twice but that was about it. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

"Say Man, you got a joint?"

"No, not on me man...."

"Well it'd be a lot better if you did!"
