Lizzy Mitchell was raised by Father Mike‚ her beloved uncle and a Catholic priest‚ until she was nine years old. Their idyllic life ended abruptly when false accusations from a bitter parishioner resulted in Lizzy being sent off to boarding school. Twenty years later‚ in the aftermath of a near–fatal accident‚ Lizzy believes she hears the voice of the long–dead Father Mike. So begins a journey of reconciliation that will both devastate and revive the lives of the people Lizzy loves most.

Monica Wood reads every manuscript from back to front to make sure that each sentence is compelling on its own, not just in sequence. Her scrupulous attention yields some of the most engaging fiction out there. This moving novel is part mystery, part love story, part coming of age tale, and every word is gold.

The human craving is for story, not truth. Memory, I believe, embraces its errors, until what is, and what is remembered, become one.
