Okay book, good enough to get you to the end but nothing spectacular

An interesting idea, and enough to keep you reading, but the author does 2 things that may annoy you enough into not finishing the book: 1. switches scenes from one country to another, typically at some cliffhanger and 2. concentrates heavily on pursuits, chases, and battles while glossing over relevant plot developments. This book starts well, and is interesting but by the end you are just tired and wondering why so many people are chasing so many people and after having seen so much of it, don't really care.
