I found the first series hilarious, but they should have stopped there. There were some truly disgusting episodes in the second, one having to do with a cat. Cat lovers, do yourself a favor and don't check this out.

Each of the 3 female leads has their own joke setup role; the promiscuous one, the sex-starved one, and the one with the relationship problems one. Crude, cynical stuff is played for laughs; lacking in any wit that doesn't come from a dark bitter place.

Laugh out loud hilarious series. I found out about this show from an interview with Rob Delaney, Sharon Horgan's current comedy writing partner on the series "Catastrophe." Though the two shows mine the same territory of awkward human relationships, the writers have struck the motherlode of comedic gold. If you tire of the self-actualized, empowered (yet flawed) women cliches peddled by mainstream entertainment conglomerates, "Pulling" (and "Catastrophe") arrive just in time to explode all previous notions of how TV characters should and shouldn't act. I still laugh out loud simply remembering certain scenes. The incisive writing, acting, outrageous humor (it's pretty filthy), and the chemistry of the principle actors, raise the bar on television comedy, and lower the boom on socially acceptable behavior.

My library system only has the first two seasons and judging from the pristine condition of the DVDs, very few people have checked it out. Pity. There is a reunion special/quasi-third season, but it's not available. Yet.
