Cute, funny. Sure the fish steals a hat and probably gets eaten by the big fish that owns it but it's only assumed he gets eaten. You don't see anything. For all you know, he just took the hat back. We enjoyed it

A humorous book with serious consequences.

A great follow up to I Want My Hat Back, although I do not like this one quite as much. I think it's a first love thing coupled with how weird and off-putting I generally find fish.

This book is hilarious! I think every kid with a sneaky plan that didn't work out will identify with this book! I know I did LOL! And Klassen is a great artist.

I only like this one slightly more than "I Want my Hat Back." At least it doesn't have a disturbing all red page. Still: steal something, get eaten?

I like this book because the thinking process of the small fish. He actually tried to deceive others and deceive himself. But eventually, God (the big fish). He will not allow others to steal. I think the small fish (human beings) finally learned the lesson that nothing is invisible to God (the big fish). the Big fish will get His glory (hat), while we tried to steal his grory (hat). excellent illustration. very thought provoking, and very educational. I also like the simplicity of this book, pictures and words. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thng, whether good or bad. Eclesiastes 12:14

What better way to describe this than with the text inside the front cover? "A fish has stolen a hat. And he'll probably get away with it. Probably." This is so simple and funny, and my son LOVED being able to anticipate what was going to happen next from the fish's mistaken beliefs, once he caught on to the pattern. Klassen is a gem in the world of children's books.

Klassen's works are must-reads. They are understated little miracles, like nature documentaries with an interior monologue, deceit... and hats. Never forget the hats.

We liked this book because the little fish stole the hat and it fit him right and we liked how the story ended because we didn't know what happened to the little fish- maybe the big fish ate the small fish up.

Great book for inferencing ...... what happened to the little fish? No one ever really knows.

We have a song that goes with this book.

Oh where, oh where has the little fish gone?
Oh where, oh where can he be?
He took the hat from the big fish and swam.
Oh where, oh where could he be?
