“American Horror Story: Murder House” follows the misadventures of the Harmon family. The Harmons (Vivian the mother, Ben the father, and Violet the daughter) have recently moved into their new house. The house (built in the 1920s) has borne witness to a series of grisly murders, including the original owners of the home. As the Harmons try and get settled, strange and terrifying things begin to occur, and it soon becomes apparent that perhaps the Harmons are not the only ones living in their home.

“American Horror Story: Murder House” is the first season of the critically acclaimed horror series, and with such a fantastic opening season, it is easy to see why this show became the favourite that it is. The plotline is incredible and holds audience’s attention with ease. It doesn’t have many dull moments, and its blend of present day and flashback scenes will keep viewers’ eyes glued to their screen. The characters are interesting and unique, and their moral ambiguousness makes them feel like real people, not just characters on a television show. The actors and actresses bring their characters to life with elegance and passion, and the show’s scripts are entertaining and interesting. The soundtrack sets the mood for “American Horror Story”, and blends together original songs and other iconic scores from films.

Overall, the author of this review highly recommends “American Horror Story: Murder House”. It is a spectacular and eerie show, and the author of this review believes it to be suitable for ages sixteen and up. Due to the nature of this show, viewers should be warned that it contains trigger warnings for sexual assault, gore, and other supernatural and horror sequences.

American Horror Story- Murder House was truly incredible. AHS is an anthological series and Murder House is definitely one of my favorites, as well as Asylum (Season 2). I was hooked immediately from the first episode and could re-watch the whole season over a hundred times! Not used to horror themed TV shows, I was quite iffy about starting AHS but I’m so glad I did. Murder House was a great first season, full of plot twists and little moments of horror that tied up to the dramatic season finale. I loved the actors, especially the incredible Jessica Lange and Evan Peters, and the back stories were all so well written. Murder House follows the Harmon family as they move into their new home that they happen to share with ghosts who have died in the same house. They go through far lengths to try to remove the spirits before they realize it’s impossible to do so. Almost every episode has a different story about someone who died in the house and one of my favorites is Nora Montgomery’s suicide because of how upsetting it was. What I loved the absolute most about the entire season is how well everything tied together. Every little detail just fit the puzzle so well and it was a thrill solving each unpredictable mystery. I was captivated by each episode and the phenomenal acting. I would recommend American Horror Story- Murder House to anybody who enjoys mystery, horror and thrillers or just want to start a new amazing series.

Not as scary as I thought it would be, but actually, more gratifying. It has creepy horror elements, yes, but there's such an interesting suspenseful storyline behind the murder house and the troubled Harmon family that inhabits it that the horror scarcely matters. I loved this season and can't wait for the next. I'm actually grateful that it's an anthology series, with each season its own self-contained story, so that the writers aren't straining to try to draw out a story that can only last twelve episodes. Needless to say, I would absolutely recommend the debut season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY.

It's not a bad show, but it starts our really slow and you'll, or at least for me I forced myself to watch the first 4 episodes or so and then it got good. Honestly, other than some soft core porn (extremely rare but you'll see what I mean) I'm surprised it lasted past the first 4 episodes.
