"Lawless" caught my eye at library (on the Staff Recommended shelves near the hold section, Pico branch). GREAT!!!

LOVED the cinematography, direction, editing and acting. The story was well-developed and mesmerizing.

Nick Cave wrote it, based on Matt Bondurant's book. His family were the main characters.

Warning: graphic violence. But this is how ppl behave. Not gratuitous. Just appeared real.

LAST movie I expected to like! About REAL moonshiners. Wow!

First time I ever saw Tom Hardy, Shia LeBeouf, Jason Clarke and Mia Waskiowska. Mesmerized by Dane DeHaan, another performer I’ve not seen. A lot of up and coming actors.

My very missed, now back in TN pal, turned me onto the Stanley Brothers. I admittedly have a VERY difficult time with any country, bluegrass, any of that music. Whatta treat to read about Ralph Stanley when researching this movie. Not exactly a typical Lou Reed interpretation. I adore Reed's version of White Light. I like FASTER music. Shot Lou Reed at the Roxy, 1977.

I didn't realize when I watched this that is comes from a book by a descendant - The Wettest County ....Matt Bondurant. Definitely violent & likely portrayal of the subject, location & era.

Geez this was bad. What has happened to Guy Pearce, I did not even recognize him. Bad story line. Tom Hardy and Shia Labouf; couldn't you find worse actors for this movie. Don't rent.

I liked this movie, kept my attention all the way through. Not one that will get a golden globe but worth the time to watch it.

this film reminds me of joel & ethan coen's "no country for old man", & quentin tarantino's "pulp fiction" & "django unchained"!

Really intense movie.
The point of view of those whose lives were affected by Prohibition and its consequences.
Regular folks trying to make it by during hard times too.

A good movie about prohibition and its uselessness.

I enjoyed this movie. I especially like movies based on a true story. What I liked is that the brothers stuck up for each other and didn't let the newcomers take over their business of bootlegging. It's interesting to find out about your ancestors to learn about what interesting things they did in the past and to be proud of them ~ great movie, great actors ~ I enjoyed it :)

Just great! Backwoods justice; visceral. The bad guys may remind you of Matewan; the good guys may remind you of the bad guys.
