The first three Stooges albums rank among some of the wildest, rawest, and most messed up rock albums in American music. If anything, they've grown in stature, re-released multiple times, referenced by countless bands, featured in everything from films to shoe commercials. While we can continue to quibble about where punk started, it wouldn't have been the same without their example. But this review isn't about those albums, it's about 2013's "Ready to Die," the fifth album, credited, like "Raw Power," to Iggy and the Stooges. If you had no idea who they were, you'd probably think this war a pretty good album, part punk and part hard rock with a distinctive vocalist. Yet it can't help but be measured against their earlier albums and as such is woefully inadequate. The lineup here is Iggy, "Raw Power" guitarist James Williamson, original drummer Scott Asheton, Mike Watt on bass, and Steve Mackay, whose bleating, atonal saxophone was such an important element on "Fun House." Hey, I'm glad the guys still play together, but it can't help but be disappointing. "DD's" is about what you think it's about and as bad as you can imagine. Sample line: "I'm on my knees for those DD's." Still, you can't fault them for trying.

genuinely, really good...a lot better than I expected. One of my faves of the past several years. The only song I'm not into is DD's. Besides that, pretty powerful.

The music CDs were OK and enjoyable. I even recorded a track or two for my iPhone.
I was happy to see that the library had them. I would not have spent the money to get them.
