Season 1 begins with a beautiful young woman found dead at the public dump, her face beaten to a pulp by her killer. Leading the investigation, Perre Clement, young recently-named public prosecutor, teams up with Police Captain Laure Berthaud and examining magistrate Judge Roban. They try to solve the horrendous crime before them: a muddy affair, combining prostitution, drugs, business, and politics.

The main character, the Prosecutor Pierre Clement, is a likeable, warm, principled, moral person, that takes his job very seriously! The other main character, the female Police Captain, is abrasive, unlikeable and forgettable! Was that the intent?
The Judge is an interesting character!
This serial shows an odd way to run a police station, which has little discipline, too much confusion and is haphazard, and not much accountability! Hopefully, this is not a reality of the present French policing!

This Police Series Thriller is watchable, and intriguing, due to its geographic setting, a different way of doing things judicially, and type of crimes, with many characters! The stories are surprising, unpredictable!
While this Series' stories are gripping, they are, also, dark, skip and jump around a lot, have story holes! In other words, lack fluidity!

To give awards for this one, as it received, stumps me! Some scenes with the violent, sadistic implications are so horrific, one would need a shower! Or, are we rewarding the sadistic violence and abuse now??
Regardless, this series is just Not that good for any awards!

There is a great cinematography of the Parisian Historical Court House, and a great scene of the Eiffel Tower from a balcony, but that is about it! Too bad, the Director did not take more opportunities to show some beautiful Parisian sites and the French culture in the stories! It would have definitely added much needed warmth, beauty in contrast to the dark, heart-breaking stories! Not that we feel too much for many victims here, sadly, either!

All I can say that while this Series IS different from others and IS Watchable, it is just too somber, too dark, too sadistic, and too violent for my taste! The Director did spare us the graphic violence for most part, but a number of scenes did leave quite a bad taste! There are just too many bad characters in these stories! The Human depravity knows no limit, it seems, and sinks quite low in this series, in both the criminal world and in the Gov't's Conspiracy! The ending will take you for a spin, also! It is a Thriller, after all!!

In fact, this Series and its stories just might put you off visiting France for a while!

It is unlikely I will be watching the next episodes!
There are much, much better Italian, Swedish, Australian, British, and American Detective serials out there, where I would not need a shower to feel better about the World!

This French tv series, with English subtitles, is similar to the many popular American crime / drama series. Set in Paris, this series does not portray the city from the tourist’s point of view. Rather, the gritty, dark side of Paris is revealed.

As a student of “la langue française,” the subtitles are very helpful. The language used is very typical of the everyday French used by residents of Paris, with a lot of slang and spoken very quickly.

I would recommend this series to those who enjoy crime and drama, as well as to those interested in learning about the justice system of another country.

C’est bien fait!

Subtitles don't come on until one and a half minutes into the film - don't panic.

If French Police were as sloppy and inept as what was depicted in this series, this country is in big trouble.

A young compassionate prosecutor began his job amidst a brutal murder case ... nice Paris backdrops though the series was released in 2005.

What a difference in a police procedural from France to the USA. Gritty but gripping tale of murder and conspiracy.
