"Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name. She's determined to escape him, and willing to take any risks necessary to survive. Unexpectedly, however, the two have a dangerous encounter with people who adhere to a code of justice all their own. At the center of the dispute is a desperate young woman whom Emory can't turn her back on, even if it means breaking the law. As her husband's deception is revealed, and the FBI closes in on her captor, Emory begins to wonder if the man with no name is, in fact, her rescuer"-- Provided by publisher.

Not too bad a book, although everythig appears to be over stated.
The ending was a surprie, but I wish the author didn't feel the need to drive home every point with a sledge hammer.. Most people could ge the point anyway.

Have to agree with "snakie_chick" and "yoohoo5" regarding the excess of sex and vulgar language. Great plot twists; I, too, guessed the wrong culprit.

I enjoyed this book. The final ending was really a surprise. I hadn't even thought of that person as being guilty.

A better version of Skinny Dip. I found the similarities between Mean Streak and Skinny Dip uncanny, but Mean Streak was better written and I really enjoyed the performance of the actor who read the book. Definitely would recommend.

Well-developed characters, a couple of juicy mysteries and plenty of twists made this book a fun read. There's more Sandra Brown in my future.

This is my favorite Sandra Brown book so far. Very exciting story, great characters, and very solid story line. Rates a 9 of 10 for me.
