Add a CommentThis is a wonderful book that goes way beyond the acquisition of recipes. It is a heart warming peek into the kitchens of a wide range of grannies living all over the world. In addition, the cooks are photographed in their kitchens in a very artistically repetitive way. Each granny looks straight at the camera and the ingredients she is going to use are laid out in patterns on the surface in front of her. I read this book in one sitting. I want to own this book. The author gathered these memories while on a long couch-surfing trip around the world wherever his fancy took him. This was an interesting book to pick up and put down whenever you like as it is written in short essays about each grandmother the author met and includes one recipe for each. I was interested to see that the recipes were ones I can imagine being served on ordinary days.
