An a-typical Hollywood feel-good redemption flick with some good acting. Nothing really emotionally moving here, but then the writer isn't really known for making waves, just nice stories about nice people in a nice world where everything has a happy, happy...

1* l watched 15 minutes and that was enough for me! Crude dirty old men talking dirty about Danny Collins girlfriend while she is passed out drunk on the lawn. Not my cup of tea!

up to the end wasn't sure why I am watching that movie and what is trying me to say and didn't get that response

the old star discovered a letter written by John Lennon with some bullshitting (unfortunately John - great and inspirational man was also full of bs-tting around) and decide to change his life and stuck to his son, who actually found him a little ridiculous and I think he was right
but was he really changing his mind ? I don't think so
was that really based on true story - again - I don't think so
was that really something inspirational about discovering 40 years or so letter , which wasn't delivered on time - not in that original case and also not in the movie, at least I wasn't buying it
yeah, it may happened that one day your old friend or sympathy or girlfriend or somebody will try for not particular reasons stuck to you
it can be even be good if that person have lots of money

Good actors, touching meaningful story, and family drama and forgiveness. You can catch a clip of the real rocker dude it was based on .. during the credits at the end.

I liked this movie a LOT as a musician. I spotted "a real drummer" in his live show. Which was Kenny "Jack and Diane," "Sunglasses at Night" Aronoff, lol. 1/3rd of my childhood in one guy (the others? Journey's Steve Smith and Phil Collins, of course, loud and powerful players)

Fun movie, really liked it. Like Christopher Plummer a lot.

Decent flick.

A good movie of love and relationship. Annette Bening played best.

Movie was a dud, hope the actors where paid well, and someone got something of value from an otherwise train wreck of an endeavor.

Perfect casting in Pacino, Bening, Garner and, of course, Mr. Christopher Plummer.

Delightful story -- even heart-warming.

Ricki and the flash but with a better script. Meryl got Rick Springfield and Al got John Lennon. The tried and true story of a rock star making amends with his family/past.

Frank Grubman: This is the second time I am in New Jersey, and I don't like it.

Apr 15, 2016

Frank: So, your birthday's tomorrow. Is that your big problem? Pregnant women in Africa, feeding half their village from their titties. Those ladies got problems. Not you.
Lennon;s letter: "... Being rich and famous doesn't change the way you think. It doesn't corrupt your art. Only you can do that. So, what do you think about that, Danny Collins? Stay true to your music. Stay true to yourself. ..."
Mary: I'm sorry, are you on drugs?
Collins: Currently or in general?
Tom: I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing your point.
Frank: The point, my boy, is that he's got a good heart. He just keeps it up his ass half the time.
