Now, listen up! There’s something you need to know. It’s about something that you should NEVER, ever take to school. No, it isn’t your lunch or your homework. It’s an alligator. Alligators are nothing but trouble in a classroom! Trust me … I know all about it. Here’s my story….
The day I brought an alligator for Nature Show-and-Tell, I just wanted to show something truly impressive. Who really wants to see another bird’s nest or another hollow stick? I don’t!
But my alligator wouldn’t behave at school. It made too much noise. It drew funny pictures on the blackboard and made everyone laugh (except the teacher). It threw paper airplanes (one got caught in the teacher’s hair), stuck its chewed gum everywhere, made gluey messes and ate my lunch.
It even laughed at my teacher’s hair-do. She wasn’t impressed.
My alligator disrupted the class all day. At the end of it, I had to go to the principal’s office! My alligator got to go home.
So take my advice and DO NOT bring your pet alligator to school!
(However … there are some other pets you could try bringing instead. For example, do you have a dinosaur or a buffalo?)
This hilarious school story, with its expressive illustrations, is author/artist Elise Parsley’s first picture book.
