A very sad story , good people get persecuted and killed during WW2 ,music connects the modern era with the past and when the modern character starts facing unusual events which seem to lead to how evil from the past can affect the present it gets explained away with a brain tumor and one feels cheated out of a potentially much more complex narrative. The promise did not deliver and ended in banal and the harrowing demise of the past characters is wrenchingly sad.No redemption other than the descendants of the evil doers being exposed.

I listened to the audiobook. The narrators do a very good job. The book is a great listen! And you can learn a little history regarding WW2. The book keeps moving along at a good pace. I couldn't quit listening to it. The characters (except maybe for the husband) seem well-developed. The ending was totally unexpected. However, I did think the ending was weak.

Simply a fabulous book. Exciting story line and historically significant. I rate it a 10. Great job Tess!
