"The charges: explosive. Alex Cross has never been on the wrong side of the law -- until now. Charged with gunning down followers of his nemesis Gary Soneji in cold blood, Cross is being turned into the poster child for trigger-happy cops who think they're above the law. Cross knows it was self-defense. But will a jury see it that way? The evidence: shocking. As Cross fights for his professional life and his freedom, his former partner John Sampson brings him a gruesome, titillating video tied to the mysterious disappearances of several young girls. Despite his suspension from the department, Cross can't say no to Sampson. The illicit investigation leads them to the darkest corners of the Internet, where murder is just another form of entertainment. The People vs. Alex Cross: the trial of the century. As the prosecution presents its case, and the nation watches, even those closest to Cross begin to doubt his innocence. If he can't convince his own family that he didn't pull the trigger with intent to kill, how can he hope to persuade a jury? But even with everything on the line, Cross will do whatever it takes to stop a dangerous criminal ... even if he can't save himself."--Amazon.com.

Patterson's Alex Cross novels remain his best work. Cross is such an interesting, complex, and believable character and his cases are always unusual and challenging. His family and friends are integral parts of these stories and often add tremendously to the reader's enjoyment of the tale.

Keep the Cross books coming, Mr. Patterson. It will be interesting to see where Cross's career goes with his new career venture.

This is the next book in the Alex Cross series. Not my favorite of the series, but I still enjoyed reading it and look forward to seeing what happens to Alex Cross and his family next.

This bored me too much. I have only read like three other Alex Cross books so I was barely interested in all the side characters. You'll only appreciate this if you've been reading all the Alex Cross books and the entire series.

Happily, yet another Alex Cross novel was totally satisfying. I love all the family dynamics in this series; everyone is integral to the plot in one way or another. There is plenty of drama -- and all without extreme graphics so the imagination can fill in the blanks. I am aways looking for the next Alex Cross as soon as I turn the final page.

What't not to like about an Alex Cross story by James Patterson. Nothing! This one is a cut above though. Two great story lines going at once, leaving Cross frustrated and doubting himself and his future. And, as usual, lots of family engagement, though this time with one very interesting subplot that impacts one of the main story lines [notice no spoilers here]. There is cybercrime, courtroom drama, missing people, partnership issues, and at the end a surprising career move. Really a great read and so hard to put down, it will go fast. Wish Patterson would hurry and turn out the next great Alex Cross story. Enjoy.

A good read and glad to know that we actually have tech weens tuned into the dark side of the net. Glad to see the Soneji crowd put to rest and Alex taking on his new assignments. Wonder where old John Sampson and friends will wind up in the future??? Contract staff to the Cross Agency?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book especially the kidnapping of the blonds and the dark web.
I found the other plot a bit perplexing that it took a cyber wizard and Alex's son to figure out the halogen plot. How could a bunch of thugs have the intelligence to use this trickery? Patterson didn't explain that and the fact that the criminals were ready to put there life on the line knowing the guns weren't in there hands. Were they drugged too? Find there are missing ties but enjoyed the book anyway.

Enjoyed this latest chapter in the saga of Alex Cross. Lots of changes in this book and to come.
The next book should continue to be interesting for Alex and the entire Cross family.
