Just Fly Away is an amazing story about the power of family, honesty and unity. It was enjoyable following the characters as they figured out what life was really about. The story could not have been more well-written or ended better than it did. The author did a superb job at making the readers feel like they were a part of the story while at the same time giving the characters their own unique place in the story. It was amazing how captivating the story was though It seemed boring at the outset. As the old saying goes, "Never judge a book by its cover". Readers will benefit from not judging this book by its cover.

I don't understand the positive reviews for this book. The portrayal/voice of the narrator didn't feel authentic to me. Instead, I would recommend Mosquitoland by David Arnold for a more convincing portrait of a teen girl experiencing family upheaval.
