Totally rubbish, at first I thought its is a monster-post-apocalyptic movie with all these intense storyline and CG. the movie mostly spent time on Joel Edgerton's family and their reaction and interaction after and with other family, For the last 30 minutes, the horror part( not really that scary) that the other family starts to change and sick. The ending is so simple and blody. Overall, this movie is not really a horror movie but a walking-dead that kind of movie ( TWD is much better), it is about humanity , how far will people go for the food and survival, but really a lot of unessacary blood and violence. It is Joel Edgerton worst movie beside The Gift. 0.5 is already a mercy. Don't waste your time on "this".

This movie made no sense. I don't recommend it. People's paranoia bring out the worst in them. They become soulless.

This is not really a horror film so don't be disappointed if this is your expectation.

Disappointing film! Atmospheric and some very good acting but the film doesn't really go anywhere!

To echo what others have said, it was marketed as a horror movie and it seems like it's going to be a horror movie, but it's not really. I'd call it more an end of the world thriller, but, despite some tension and a few intense scenes, it's not particularly thrilling. In fact, it's a bit boring in parts. A mysterious plague or illness or something (never made clear) has infected humanity and a family is hiding out in a boarded up house in the woods. Everything is okay (Well, except for grandpa.) until a man breaks in, and they decide to take him and his family in. Then it becomes more of a psychological thriller. You keep expecting more to happen. The acting (Joel Edgerton, Carmen EJogo, Riley "Elvis was my grandpa" Keough) is good, the music and lighting is effective, but it is never really that compelling. The ending is disappointing too. A decent effort, but it could've been much better. You might also check out "Don't Breathe."

Pretty lackluster- I'd skip it. In fact I'm not sure why this movie was made at all.

I can't come up with a better review than this one:
SPOILER ALERT,
Half a star rating. More on previous spoiler alert that "IT" never comes. That's because there is NO "it" at all. The acting is good. The filming is good. But there is absolutely NO PLOT whatsoever. Just people freaking out over the black plague that infects and quickly kills everyone who touches or even breaths the air around infected people or animals. And all of those infected or desperate people appear in DAYTIME when the healthy people go miles from home and run into THEM. Even desperate people who shoot at them for no reason aren't "Coming for them." Just pointless killing of "shoot first to survive." Having watched literally hundreds of movies in the last few years, this is the first one that moves me to write a review, strictly out of extreme disgust. That's how bad this movie is. The title and write-up imply some scary monster comes creeping after innocent people at night. By the end of the movie, when you catch on that there is no such monster of any kind, and you finally get the movie's insane message that no matter what you do, "life is pointless and hopeless," it's too late to reclaim that wasted 90 minutes of your life.
