As a grandmother I really didn't think I would enjoy this book. My kids were teenagers in the 80s so I had seen them play the games in the story. But I did like the book!! I was kept reading by the story and the game within a game. Hard to believe that only Wade could find the three keys, so was happy to see his friends get key two first. Sometimes I forgot if we were in the game or real life. I plan to watch the movies written about in the book again mainly "WarGames". I say read this book with an open mind and you will really enjoy it. And you don't have to be a gamer or a teenager to like it!

Great book, filled with humor and action. Book can get confusing at times, but is normally engaging.

Amazing book.

It is a guaranteed amazing book, you will never read anything in your life as captivating or special as this book. It eventually will go down in the classics of teen literature.

Cline has created a fast paced attractive package of Computer Gaming for those of us who were never bitten by the bug. As a first Novel he slams a home run. Great pace, good voice, and exciting. Worthy read.

Spielberg directs the Movie, highly anticipated -

Cline has created a wonderfully detailed world and his descriptions of the OASIS make me want to jump right into it. Yes, the book is full of nostalgia but it's all well-researched and relevant to the story. Add great characters and you've got a heck of a read.

It was alright. I grew up in Halliday's era so it was a trip down memory lane for me. If you're not of that generation I don't think you'll enjoy it or get it as much.

This book was amazing start to finish , didn't skip a line. It only took me two days to finish it and it was worth it. this book is definitely on my top ten fiction books. I will most likely recommend it to friends who love science fiction, video games, but you don't really have to be a video games lover to read this book . very entertaining and Amazing!!

My God. This is one of, if not, The Best Book I've ever read. This Book was such a fun story to read. The Details were so immerse, the characters were amazing, and the plot was so beautiful. Parzival (Wade) was such an amazing character. He wasn't just some lame protagonist, he was a character I can relate to. His adventure with Art3mis and Aech was such an incredible tale and so awesome. I loved the fact that the author put so much time and detail to the story that I can actually draw what I'm reading. Art3mis and Parzival was my favorite part in the whole book (Plus every single reference to pop culture you can imagine). Those two characters have an amazing relationship both in and out of the OASIS that it almost made me cry in the end. This book was so amazing and that it should be on everyone's book shelf that is in love with pop culture and the overall world of geekdom. I'm definitely going to buy my own copy now.

This is a fun, fast read for any fan of 1980s pop culture. If that's not you area of expertise, it may still be enjoyable, but the many references to film, television, and video games will go over your head. I mostly found this to be a good read any time I listened to this book (it's read quite well by 1980s and sci-fi geek-god Wil Wheaton) and look forward to checking out more books from Ernest Cline.

The ideas in this book are more appropriate for a Buzzfeed article than a novel.

An entertaining read about the 1980's "tech" looking back from 40 years in the future. Pacman, Atari 2600, and Journey are part of a quest through a completely virtual, all-encompassing universe.
