I would have liked a little more information on the world she lived in and fewer descriptions of the whining early in her life. What is finally a mystery is how at 40 she finally came into her own life.

Excellent book! I didn't know a lot about John Quincy Adams and nothing about his wife but this book made them real and very human. She was an amazing woman.

Critical husband? Overbearing mother-in-law? Welcome to Louisa Adam's world. This very readable (and relatable!) biography of Louisa Adams brings this charming, formerly obscure first lady into the public eye.
