Could we get a little more CGI in here! There's not enough CGI in here!!! Predictable and boring, 'nough said.

I enjoyed the first movie and was so looking forward to watching it. To enjoy this movie, you shouldn't see the first movie. Same plot, the Kaiju is trying to destroy the world but this time they have help from a traitor. Getting help from a 14 year old in a Jaeger was a sad attempt at trying to get viewers into the movie/fight. The script was awful but the acting was worse. This is one of those sequels that you should skip.

2/5 stars. Pacific Rim: Uprising is a 2018 American science fiction film directed by Steven S. DeKnight. It is a disappointing sequel to surprisingly enjoyable the 2013 film Pacific Rim directed by Guillermo del Toro. Set 10 years after the first film, the film is once again all about transformer-like fighting robots, controlled by teams of pilots. In my opinion, like transformers, there is a certain amount of enjoyment that can be derived from this film purely based on the spectacle and action, although even that is not superb in this movie. Moreover, this cannot by itself make a good movie, just a fun one. There’s no fantasy or wonder captured by this movie. Nor is there any of the imagination that helped the original skirt by. Uprising lakes the creativity and originality brought to the scene by the first Pacific Rim. Now there’s just numbness caused by a stale and unbelievable plot. This movie will leave you exhausted, overstimulated, and unsatisfied, and for that reason I would not recommend watching it unless you believe you can garner sustenance from the collision of CGI metal with CGI flesh in a CGI city.

This movie sticked more than a kaiju's waste matter (that means poop). I had high hopes for Pacfic Rim: Uprising, considering how good the first one is, but man it did not meet those regards, and that is why I chose to reviwe this one in particular. Many things in this movie did not make sence, like the introduction of Jake, who was supposed to be the son of Stacker Pentacost, who never even got mentioned in the first movie! Where the heck was he when his father gave his life to save humanity from the kaiju! Plus the surpise of Newton being the evil master mind all along was an awful idea. It just seems so out of character to have him, who was the comic releif in the first movie, be the bad guy in this one. One last nitpick I have for this hyper-active action movie, is the death of Mako. Not that killing her off was a bad idea (they need some loss in every movie), but I did not even care that she kicked the bucket. Throughout the movie, she was this emotionless general, with not character development at all! But do not let this reviwe scare you away from this movie. If you love amazing action, with some epic monster v robot and robot v robot fun, you should totally watch Pacific Ri: Uprising. 3.4/5

I didn't see the original. I enjoyed the movie. Thought it was surprisingly entertaining. Gave it 4.5 Stars by accident, but think I'll leave it to balance those giving exaggerated low ratings. Overall, it has to be perhaps a 3.5 Star movie. Hope the library has the original...

As a turn-your-brain-off popcorn action flick, it's solid enough, but as a sequel to one of my favorite sci-fi action films, it's just okay, especially with Guillermo del Toro not directing it.

this movie totally sucks. the plot deviates away from the original in a way that is implausible. the acting sucks and it is clearly trying to make this another way to rip off hardworking americans at the boxoffice. don't get fooled by a third movie in this franchise.

Sequel to the 2013 Pacific Rim pilot that introduced the future world of Kaijus and Jaegers. Fast forward 10 years, the war continued with an unexpected Villain and battle of new generation of Jaegers against a mega Kaijus. Fun watch with the evolving mythology, very good multi-ethnic young actors and special effects. Rate this film ★★★½ as good as the original.

It started out differently and decently enough but John Boyega can only carry a movie for so long. Notwithstanding his performance this movie quickly devolved into Transformer / Power Ranger territory. Not recommended.

Good brainless fun definitely geared more towards kids than the original.

Unbelievable! but something to watch that does not have sex or bad language in it. so it was okay and Scott Eastwood is cute!

Opening dialogue:

My generation, born in a state of war. Giant monsters attack our world. We call it Kaiju. They enter through a hole, a bridge to another dimension. At the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Sent by another race from another world.
Precursor. To fight it we make our own monster .. Jaeger. The giant robot, so big that it takes two pilots to control it. My father is one of them. He separated himself, to save the others. I .. I'm not my father. It's been 10 years since we won the war. And close the hole. Most of this world has been rebuilt. But some cities can not do it. And the world is still picking up the pieces. Some of us live better on broken boats. And living in a half-lived mansion, much better than a bad apartment. And to live here you have to be creative. You have to cheat others to get breakfast. And a new pastry.
