While I watched this movie, I remembered the news reports of the accident. The movie showed the powerful connections Joe Kennedy Sr had and how he ruled the family, even in his diminished health. It also showed Ted Kennedy's lack of compassion for Mary Jo, his lack of integrity/honesty for his friends, co-workers and his office. Politicians were thought to be infallible leaders, which made them powerful. The local police didn't know how to handleMary Jo's death or knew the power that was working against them. It was days after Ted made the televised speech, did the police even attempt to investigate, only to find nothing.

I thought the movie was boring, the actors flat because their characters were and didn't tell all, even what was known as fact. Everything was different in 1969 but to say Ted Kennedy got away with murder because of it, could be correct. If this happened in 2019, he most likely would have faced a felony murder charge. I thought the movie was slow and didn't tell all, even what was know.

If you did not already dislike Ted Kennedy before, you certainly will after you watch this flick. He was a sick, self-centered, self-perceived victim trying to live up to the legacy of his brothers. A very weak amoral fellow.

Well told unbiased story. Its amazing what he got away with. I don't know how he lived with himself. He could have saved that girl.

Kennedy walked past other houses without trying to phone the police, and did not phone the police when he got back to the party. Mary Jo was still alive in an air pocket. There was plenty of time for the police diver to save her if Kennedy had promptly summoned help as any decent person would have. The joke at the time was: "But Teddy, what if I get pregnant?" "Don't worry, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." Kennedy had been expelled from Harvard for cheating. His recklessness caused two other deaths in a plane crash. See my comment to Edward Klein's TED KENNEDY.

Well-produced and its attempts to be well-balanced actually put Ted Kennedy in a dark light. He waited nine hours to report the death of his passenger. The director shows some of the family pressures as the last surviving male Kennedy--but there's an entitled attitude and a protective circling of the wagons that led to no jail time. This is a good historical overview of how things were in the 60s and that politics, in many ways, hasn't changed.

The only two people who know exactly what happened that night are both dead. Everything else is speculation and cover-up. Not reporting the accident as soon as possible is completely irresponsible. Wearing a neck brace and playing a victim is cowardly! It appears to me the if a person has a famous name, lots of money, and a lot of people to help cover their actions, a person can get away with anything.

I like the way the film was done, neither blaming or clearing the name of Ted Kennedy. Nobody knows what happened at that party, what relationship Ted Kennedy had with Mary Jo. It was fortunate for Ted K. that the moon landing overshadowed his transgressions somewhat. The truth was taken to the grave.

First off the sound track is terrible. We had to turn the TV up to 60 to hear anything at all!

Story shows basic privilege of the wealthy whites in the 60s. It rolls slow, but the story is historic and all should know our history so we do not repeat it.

***SPOILER ALERT*** The defining action/non-action:

What could you possibly be thinking? How could you let this much time go by?
-Well, did you see the police arrive at the cottage last night?
- No? Well, don't you think, if I had reported it, the police would have been there within the hour?
I guess so.
-I thought this matter had been handled. I thought I could count on you. The moment the police didn't arrive at the cottage, you should have known.
You should have known it was your responsibility to report it to the authorities.
What the hell are you talking about?
-No, you bungled this, Joey. You bungled it.
