No-nonsense neuroscientist Julia is researching the biochemistry of the female brain of three couples: newlyweds Zoe and Greg, whose career troubles seep into their relationship; Lisa and Steven, who are looking to spice up their stuck-in-a-rut marriage; and Lexi who can't help trying to change her boyfriend Adam. Meanwhile, the straight-laced Julia's own synapses start to fire when a handsome new subject joins her study.

A fully stupid movie based on fake inaccurate science and fake neuroscience. Highly sexist and insulting to women and to men. The underlying theme is that the brains of men and women are so different (which is untrue --- both male and female brains have the same neuroanatomy, the same neurons, dendrites, axons, neurotransmitters, receptors, substructures, etc.) that the two cannot possibly ever really connect or get along.

At one point the movie suggests that men should choke women, arguing that women liked to be dominated by cavemen. First, choking refers to the airway being blocked by an ingested object, what was being advocated was strangulation, the application of outside force to block the airway. Strangulation is one of the main ways men kills women. Strangulation is an assault, it is dangerous, it causes women to die, but this movie encourages men to give it a go on the women they are with. Ugh.

Everything about this movie fits into the decaying tenure of this porn culture and to the continuing sexist myths about men and women.

The only saving feature was the funny pill-popping assistant to the neuroscientist.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this movie as it started, but as the film progressed, I found it to be very thought provoking and very enlightening.

I did not have high hopes for this film, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the finished product. I had expected it to be male bashing--and honestly there was just a little of that at first as they explored stereotypes--but the struggle to find a balance in life, cope with our society's constant pressure to find romantic love, and to understand the opposite sex and our own. Funny, witty, touching.
