American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion's success, on the eve of D-Day. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.

This is a very dark film about Nazi experimentation and zombies. Very graphic. We had to shut it off.

The portion of the movie where they were being deployed into battle actually scared me more than the rest of the movie. JFC, the horrors of war cannot be overstated. Oh and killing Nazi’s gets an A++. Don’t forget that readers, Nazi’s and other white supreme people do not get a free pass, they’re monsters, that is part of the allegory of the plot no less. Fascism comes for everybody if left unchecked: aka peaceful countryside french town folk. So if this gets flagged, consider the person who was unhappy with my comment here, they might be perpetuating other forms of hate.

Very gory, but not very good. Interesting concept but too much poetic license taken to imperil the good guys, especially with the obligatory little kid who keeps wandering into harms way.

Cliches abound and fun is thin on the ground. Not clever enough to be witty; not dumb enough to be dumb fun. Kinda boring as a result.

This fast paced action war film's opening scene reminded me of the just as graphic opening scene of the 1998 film, Saving Private Ryan, but in the air! Showing the horrors of war, it opens up with a U.S paratrooper etching the date of June 4th, 1944, into the inside frame of the plane heading over France, during an air raid. Ironically I happen to be writing this review on the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, June 6th, 2019!
This war/horror film, is largely well acted, with some script flaws, however overall I was impressed with this overly dramatic and somewhat gory film by director Julius Avery, and producer, J.J. Abrams (Lost: 2004 -2010; Star Trek Beyond: 2016; Mission Impossible: Fallout: 2018).
No DVD extras on this inaccurate but entertaining film, ending two days later after the "mission" was completed, on D-Day.
Many "unknown" actors with some "known" actors, with a women and child carrying their roles well.

I knew this movie was about world war II, but I was surprised how much I enjoyed the action and plot.

Although the movie may not have been historical accurate I found the story line to be interesting on a fiction level. Not a great movie but interesting. Over all the acting was not all that bad and I liked the way the movie started with planes being shot out of the air and paratroopers jumping out of planes that are falling apart around them. The movie does get a little ridicules near the end.

The US Army was not integrated until the Korean War. Negro troops did not serve with enlisted whites.
But George W. Bush and his henchmen would be delighted with the torture carried out by US troops.

This movie was better than I expected but because it is a war movie there is much killing.
