While the movie plot and characters are markedly different in several aspects compared to Capote's short novel with the same title, the movie story-line basically follows the book's. The screen writer and director on the whole did a good job of keeping true to the major themes of the book. And much of the dialog comes directly from the pages of the book; given Capote's artful use of the language, this is another big plus. On the downside the character Holly -- if you can look past the delightful performance by Hepburn -- Holly herself is really just shy of a full-fledged gold-digging prostitute, and so what happens to her isn't very surprising. Which makes this movie a tad boring. And with the ending modified significantly from the book, the whole thing comes off as an unrealistic fantasy. At best only modestly recommended.
