Mim Malone’s life has become a giant train wreak, checking off all the boxes. Parents split up? Check. Being forced to relocate halfway across the country? Check. Stuck 947 miles away from her sick mother? Check. Impulsively, Mim boards a Greyhound bus and takes off in order to make her way back home. Mim is one of the quirkiest, most interesting and complex characters that I have read in a YA book in a very long time. Her unique voice and weird sense of humor, complete with her flaws made me want to keep discovering more about her, a very multi dimensional character. However, those who do not enjoy road trip books may not be fans of this one. The meandering story line may be frustrating for some; but please give this book a chance. To that end, I’d definitely recommend Mosquitoland for fans of “road trip” style books such as Let’s Get Lost and Vivian Apple At the End Of The World. @viedelabibliothèque of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
