This was okay. I applaud the choice to write a mystery novel through the eyes of an unreliable, alcoholic, screwup of an everywoman rather than the typical flawed but brilliant detective with a heart of gold. I also thought it was a bold choice to make all of the main players beyond flawed and almost universally unlikable. Unfortunately, how the mystery is eventually solved is so improbable and stupidly coincidental that it tested my suspension of disbelief to the extent that I found the whole exercise to be a bit of a waste of time.
