Resurrection is a tough sell to most. Even as an article of faith to many who consider themselves in some sense Christian, it has been eroded in recent years. A lot of demystifying has been done in seminary for years, but now its been put before the public by prominent writers that a grain of salt at least applies. The result is that many may come away from this with a certain negativity based on the notion that they have been cinematically rhetoriced. I feel my interest in Christianity is part of my effort to get a life. I think this film gives some worthwhile glimpses of what Christianity was, as it started off. In a sense, it is an exercise in 'living as if'. It seems clear it's about loving your God, and your neighbor, at the least. Its learning how you manage without grasping for your own personal security constantly. This film does not really put piety or belief in the forefront. The twelve discovered a way to change their attitude and they were delighted to tell people about it. I don't see any reason to believe what unspools runs down other spiritual or religious traditions. Rotten tomatoes shows more support from the public than from the critics. Mostly, I suppose, because they love Jesus, and love covers a multitude of sins.
