I checked out Bleed For This out of interest in actor Miles Teller's work and was pleased to additionally find Aaron Eckhart and Katey Sagal in the film. If not for the Rocky series I might not have picked this up. When I played the film I watched the beginning and then missed much of it until right before the depiction of the car accident -- and didn't feel like I had missed anything (exposition, detail, etc). For me the film felt like it was dragging and wondering in the beginning, not particularly building, not giving a viewing value, not engaging for me (among a certain sub-cultural aspect that I find overwhelming). While this is a boxing-story film, do not think of it as a sports-film -- probably the reason why it felt like it was dragging is because its platform is that it's a drama. The equation the drama + overwhelming sub culture drove me out of the room. But hey .... for all the times I've seen our Sno-Isle Libraries mis-tag the spines of films (ex. pieces that are clearly sci-fi labeled as being first-&-foremost action films, etc) this one is definitely correctly tagged as a drama -- and not that drama is bad, but for this film the viewer needs to remember that it is a Drama, not sports/action.
