In spite of the excellent performance of the reader, talented Erin Spencer , this novel is slow, repetitive and unconvincing . None of the characters are engaging and the political and social analysis of the times are just “clichés” artificially pasted on the story of young girl infatuated with Hollywood’s star Ingrid Bergman. Kate Alcott’s previous novels were definitely more impressive.
