Sweet and real and lovely. It shows kids dealing with issues that even adult media shys away from. Yay for a good and well-meaning orphanage too. Yay for a three-dimensional "bully" and yay for showing happy and sad moments. A moving and sweet claymation film that felt more REAL than many live-action films. I think it is okay for older children to view, especially if they have had to deal with hard issues in their lives. Actually, I think this film would really help children that have had to deal with grief and dysfunctional parents and other hard issues. I watched the English-subtitled French version and the special features showed how they had non-actor children really playing out the scenes while recording--which explains a lot of the realism and sincerity felt throughout the film. Also, you can tell the creators really loved and cared for the film, story, and characters.
