Whimsy and fantasy combine in Cowell's new series. Prince Xar of the Wizards is rather full of himself, even though he's 13 and his magic hasn't grown in yet. He's still certain he's the Boy of Destiny and decides that trapping a Witch (who everyone is sure are extinct) and stealing the magic for himself is just the ticket. Princess Wish of the Warriors heads into the Badwoods Forest to find her living spoon. Being slightly sensible, she brings her Assistant Bodyguard and this wonderful Enchanted Sword she finds in her mother's courtyard. The sword arrives just in time as it is the ancient enemy of Witches, who turn out to be not as extinct as believed. Xar's and Wish's paths collide and combine as they must overcome enemies both familiar and strange. I'm going to have to listen to the audiobook, as it recently received and Odyssey Audio Honor Award with David Tennant narrating.
