Readers follow a petite professional burglar in building a database on a murder case from information collected by breaking and entering various types of residential and commercial places in LA which is also the location for his 2018 "The Bomb Maker". The crime, break-ins, American paintings, getaways and the burglar character are interesting enough but felt the book dedicated way too many pages on the mundane task in creating the database. Not one of Perry's best but still a decent read. Note. from Wiki: Perry received a B.A. from Cornell University in 1969 and his Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Rochester in 1974. He has been a laborer, maintenance man, commercial fisherman, weapons mechanic, university administrator and teacher, as well as a television writer and producer (Simon & Simon, 21 Jump Street, Star Trek: The Next Generation). To date, Perry has written 24 novels with publication of Old Man in 2017 (and The Bomb Maker in 2018.)
